In May 2005, our recycling company (formerly Tradehouse (Elland) Ltd), was chosen by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity to recycle Yorkshire's unwanted clothing, shoes and textiles, to raise funds for their life-saving service. Textile recycling banks were placed at recycling sites across Yorkshire, and from the resale of the donations, over £31,000 was raised for the charity in the first year of launching the scheme.
Following on from this successful partnership, we also became the proud partner of more local, UK based charities. Let our Charity Partnerships page show you how priceless the services are of all our charity partners…the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and Whizz-Kidz.
In 2006, we launched BAG IT UP, a series of recycling schemes and campaigns to help maximise the funds available for our charities. Due to demand, mobile phone and ink cartridge recycling are now popular methods for devoted supporters to raise funds for their charity, without handing over any hard-earned cash!
All donations are sold to second-hand goods traders in the UK and overseas, where they are reused or recycled. Last summer's shoes may be walking the streets of Slovakia, that tatty old jumper might be insulating your home, your old mobile phone could be ringing in Kenya, that bra you never liked will fit someone in Ghana...
At BAG IT UP, we operate using a strict ethical trading policy, to ensure we only sell to recognised traders in the UK and overseas, where there is a demand for quality used items, and second-hand goods are available to all.
