tescos ryde SM WEB VERSION

TESCO staff who helped raise £30,000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have received a big thank you from the charity.

A textile bank was installed at the Ryde store three years ago, as a drop-off point for old clothes and shoes.

Around three-quarters of the items donated have been sold in second-hand markets around the the world, raising £30,000 for the Air Ambulance, and the rest has been recycled.

Air Ambulance Community Fundraiser, Rosemarie Norman, presented a thank you certificate to Tesco customer service manager, Andy Cooke, and Danielle Mugridge from Bag It Up, the company that recycles the donated clothes.
She said: "It’s an incredible amount to raise, and Tesco staff have done an amazing job. We are lucky to have so much support on the Isle of Wight."
