Schools Campaign: How recycling your textiles will help your Air Ambulance

Bag It Up has started a Schools Campaign to try to involve the younger generation in our efforts to 'Recycle to Save Lives'. We are currently working with three of our Air Ambulance partnerships to drive this forward. These three charities include:

The scheme is successfully 'taking off' in Hampshire, Dorset and Somerset but is looking to grow rapidly in popularity. We offer talks to pupils and students of all ages from primary schools to universities. If required Bag It Up can do joint talks with the Air Ambulance charity fundraisers who are constantly educating people about the importance of an Air Ambulance and how it receives no government funding to remain operational.

We have an educational DVD that we show in our talks which help children of all ages and even adults understand the process of raising money for the Air Ambulance by recycling our unwanted clothes, shoes and textiles. Click on the video below to see this brilliant creation animated by Hannah Newall and Mick Manning with special credit going to:

Video approximately 6 minutes:

“Sustainable income is vital to a modern charity, and recycling as an income stream helps and affects so many people, whilst fulfilling social responsibilities. Our successful ongoing relationship with Bag It Up has raised thousands of pounds, and this income saves lives across the region.”
Paul Gowland, Director of Fundraising, Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity
It is estimated that more than 1 million tonnes of textiles are thrown away every year, with most of this coming from household sources.
